Astral Onyx Anthologies Submissions

Welcome to Astral Onyx Anthologies (published under Win's Books Publishing), where we celebrate Black voices and imaginative storytelling. We invite writers to submit their short stories for consideration in our upcoming anthology collections. Below are the guidelines. We look forward to reading your stories and are excited to consider them for Astral Onyx Anthologies. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us!


Theme and Genre

  • 2027 Anthology Theme: Mythical Creature: Fairy/The Fae

    -Stories about black fairies, faes, and fae magic

    -Written for young adult audiences

    -Stories that center around Black lore and mythology focused on Black fairies

    -All speculative fiction genres accepted 

What We Look For:

  • Unique Voices: Stories that reflect the Black diaspora perspectives 

  • Compelling Characters: Black Characters who are well-developed and that can resonate with readers.

  • Engaging Plots: A well-structured narrative.

  • Imaginative Worlds: Worlds that transport readers and expand their imagination.

Word Count

  • Stories should be between 2,000 and 5,000 words. We may consider longer stories on a case-by-case basis, but please inquire before submitting.

Formatting

  • Use a standard font (Times New Roman or Arial) size 12, and double-spaced.

  • Include a header with your name, email address.

  • Submit your story as a Word document (.doc or .docx) or PDF.

Response Time

  • Submissions open Feb 1st to March 26th each year. We aim to respond to submissions within 3 weeks after submissions close. If you have not heard back after this period, feel free to follow up at winsbookspublishing@gmail.com

Rights and Payment

  • We acquire first rights for print, audio, and digital formats. Author still retain copyrights after publication.

  • Royalties are split evenly between publisher and all contributors. A complimentary copy of the anthology book.

Additional Considerations

  • We encourage submissions from all (queer, disabled, immigrant, etc.) Black diaspora writers and authors.

  • Please do not submit previously published work unless otherwise specified.

  • Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but notify us immediately if your story is accepted elsewhere.
